A nutritious Nutriday Breakfast Party

Even though May is the last autumn month and we have all experienced the cold spells that have been increasing in frequency, it was as though Wednesday the 3rd was a gift from the weather gods.
No one could have asked for a better day. The sun was shining; a slight cool breeze and clear skies were the prelude to an incredible event hosted by Bonfire media.

The perfect day for a garden party!
The Nutriday Breakfast Party was held at 10 Bompas Hotel – an establishment I did not even know existed until now. The property was large and the perfect setting for a garden party. The decor was stunning ranging through enormous floating balloons, through to Nutriday themed bunting and great music to set the mood. Small, low tables were set out across the lawn with blankets and pillows beneath for us to sit upon. Despite the picnic vibe, it was a lavish event and it felt as though there were no expenses spared.

Waitrons walked around offering a range of Nutriday based foods. There was semolina porridge, chicken breasts, oats and fresh berries and then on the serving tables were cupcakes and a great myriad of other delicious treats. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I heard the popping of bottles and headed straight over to the mimosas.

I felt like a child all over again when I spotted the frozen yoghurt stall. Basically ice cream but healthier and more flavoursome, served in sugar cones with various toppings available for me to sprinkle on myself, I was spoiled for choice.
We were then led to watch an interview with South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha and senior marketing manager at Danone Jabulile Gwala which was enjoyable and entertaining and it was here that we discovered that foodie Alida had been given the enormous task of creating 50 unique recipes with Nutriday yoghurt. My favourite would absolutely have to be the breakfast pizza, because who doesn’t love pizza? This healthy breakfast version is made of a baked muesli base topped with yoghurt and fresh fruit garnishing. Way to make breakfast sexy again guys

An entertaining interview
We were then split up into teams and given the opportunity to decorate each of our tables with flowers, decor, crockery, cutlery and linen. It was a great team building exercise and even though we didn’t win, I can’t say I have ever had that much fun at a press event before.

I also managed to squeeze in a session at the henna table whilst listening to the soothing sounds of the profoundly talented Majozi performing live. I felt pampered and enjoyed every moment of the Nutriday breakfast party. Enjoyable and enlightening, I learned a lot from this event.

With over 100 years of experience, Danone have definitely done right this time in their campaign to change South African’s views towards breakfast. I have to admit that I skip breakfast quite regularly, even as a freelancer who works from home. It is a terrible habit seeing as breakfast accounts for 25% of my daily nourishment and also kick-starts my metabolism. However, now that there are new recipes viewable on http://nutridaybreakfast.co.za/recipes/, a wide range of delectable products and a fresh view on breakfast, I think it is safe to say that I won’t be skipping out on the most important meal of the day any longer. Thank you Danone, Nutriday and Bonfire media for a fun-filled morning that was beautifully successful, you really outdid yourselves!
